The John Smith's Grand National
It’s a British sporting institution, running since 1839, when a horse called Lottery won the big race, and a man called Captain Becher parted company with his horse at a now famous brook…
It’s a race synonymous with a horse called Red Rum, the horse who captured the nation’s hearts, a horse who was trained on the beaches of Southport and went on to notch up three Grand National victories.
It’s three days full of stories and wonder and the most ethereal horses in the world.
It’s nothing but excitement and drama; and it’s the grandest day to share with others.
It’s time to plan for the biggest social event in the calendar, the 2010 John Smith’s Grand National; join us for the 163rd renewal of the world’s most famous race meeting at Aintree Racecourse from Thursday 8th to Saturday 10th April.
When we’re not home to the most famous race in the world in April, the John Smith’s Grand National, Aintree Racecourse plays hosts to an additional 6 racedays, making every raceday at Aintree a special one.
Racing at Aintree doesn’t happen every day, so when it does, it’s always a special occasion. Home of the John Smith’s Grand National, Aintree is one of the world’s most famous racecourses. With over two miles of luscious green racetrack, and horse racing’s biggest stars taking to this jumps only course, racing here is always a sight to behold at one of Aintree’s six other racedays outside of the Grand National meeting.
